How Will I Know When I Need New Tires?

There are a few things you can look for to tell if you need to replace your tires or not. We have listed some easy tire service, helpful hints for checking your tires.

  1. Treadwear – To check your tire tread, simply place a penny head first into several tread grooves across your tire. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, you need new tires. If part of his head is always covered by tread, you should be just fine.
  2. Exposure to Elements – Driving in high heat with too much exposure to UV rays, freezing temperatures, rain, and snow, as well as driving on gravel or rocky roads, can all give your tires structural damage.
  3. Age – No matter how good your tire tread looks, many tire manufacturers suggest getting new tires after 10 years. Your tires should come with a manual with the manufacturers recommendation.
